Today I received my new Sigma 100-400mm lens for my Canon 70D. I now have the best lens for ground to air photography in the sub $1,000 range. I have used the Canon 100-400mm MKII and to be honest, I don’t know if I can see enough of a difference to warrant the extra $1400.

I am ready for the airshow coming up in the middle of June and for any other aviation photography opportunity that comes my way. Yay!

I am looking forward to when I can afford a different camera body (most likely full frame), at which time I am really interested in the Sigma 120-300mm with the addition of a couple of teleconverters.

The motorcycle below is from my practice session today with the new lens.
Picture was taken at 196mm on a crop sensor body and 1/20th of a second shutter speed.

The Tractor was taken at 124mm and 1/20th of a second.

And the airplane (Cessna 172) was taken at 100mm and 1/100th of a second.
