S.E.5a fighters of 85 Squadron, RAF, in 1918. The hexagon on the sides is the Squadron badge which came from the shape of the hole in the middle of the propellor of the S.E.5a.

During the 1970s my dad was assigned to 85 Squadron when they were equipped with Bloodhound Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMs) and so I have a bit of a personal association with the squadron.
