Just came across this one. The horse blanket on the tailboom indicates that is belonged to the First Cavalry Division (Airmobile) in Vietnam. The extended fuse on the bomb indicates that it is a “Daisycutter” meant to explode about three feet above the ground for maximum blast and fragmentation effect. This was normally used to create landing zones for troop-carrying slicks. Normally it would clear enough vegetation for a three-ship LZ.
