A new piston-engined air speed record of 499 mph (803km/h) is set by Steve Hinton in the modified P-51 Mustang Red Baron.
Nowadays the Unlimiteds are pushing 490 mph routinely during the Gold race at Reno. Steve Hinton’s son, Steve Hinton Jr., seems to be following in his father’s footsteps.
