NASA research pilot and X-15 astronaut Bill Dana passed away this week at age 83. We send our condolences to his family and his many friends. Mr. Dana possessed all of the qualities that personify the “right stuff,” yet with exceptional modesty, friendliness and humor. Mr. Dana began working for NASA on the very first day the agency started in 1958. He flew the some of the most fantastic aircraft ever designed, including the wingless lifting bodies, Blackbird and X-15 rocket plane. We will miss him.
