The military version of Douglas’ DC-3 airliner, the C-47/C-53 was known by several different names depending on the country using it. Despite this, it became universally known as the Gooney Bird. This is the Texas Flying Legends’ C-53 Skytrooper “The Duchess of Dakota” in the early morning sunlight at Culpeper Airport. Photographed on Thursday morning May 8, 2015.
