Warbird Wednesday!
Today’s warbird is the Nanchang CJ-6. The CJ-6 is a Chinese primary trainer, used by the People Liberation Army Air Force. Based heavily on the Soviet Yak-18, the CJ-6 first flew in 1958 and is still in use by the PLAAF. Surplus CJ-6s have become popular warbirds around the world by pilots that appreciate it’s ruggedness and reliability.
In the photo we see pilot Randy “DaBear” Devere in his CJ-6 “China Maid” at the 2012 Wings, Wheels and Warriors Airshow at Manassas Airport.
