“The Flying Tigers” – The American Volunteer Group (AVG), used “shark mouth” P-40s with great success in China and Burma. This collection is dedicated to those intrepid volunteers that accepted Claire Chennault’s invitation to fly for the Chinese Air Force in the early, “dark days” of WWII when it looked like the forces of Imperial Japan were unstoppable. The Chinese people nicknamed the AVG the “Fei Hou”-“Flying Tigers” after hearing reports of their first fierce and heroic combats.
