Pilots of 19 Squadron scramble in front of the press at Duxford, March 1939. Note the two-bladed props and flat-topped canopies, typical of very early Mark I Spitfires. Also of note is the black and white underside, no tail flashes, the pre-war roundels and the squadron code letters “WZ”, which were changed to “QV” later that year.
