This is my newest collection! My latest “project”! I am currently studying the air war over Korea during the years 1950-1953. I was inspired in part, by a book I have been reading, “Osprey Aircraft of the Aces no. 4 – Korean War Aces” by Robert F. Dorr, Jon Lake, and Warren Thompson”. It is amazing to me that this conflict tends to be overshadowed by greater conflicts and it’s importance overlooked by historians! The conflict portrays propeller driven aircraft gradually, stubbornly yielding prominence to jet aircraft. World War II aircraft like the Mustang and Corsair, share the stage with the F-80 Shooting Star and the F-86 Sabre. The North Korean Air Force, initially employed WWII Soviet Yakovlev and Lavochkin designed aircraft and then Soviet-piloted MIG-15 aircraft debuted in December of 1950.
