TBM Avenger—This World War II torpedo- bomber was one of the types of aircraft originally stationed at NAS Wildwood, NJ. TBMs were built at General Motors Eastern Aircraft Division in Trenton, NJ.* https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inland_Fisher_Guide_Plant_%28New_Jersey%29
This model had been used as a forest fire water bomber in New Brunswick, Canada, prior to its arrival here. NASW’s TBM has the rare distinction of being listed on the National Registers of Historic Places.
*A side note worth mentioning, my paternal grandfather took a job at this same Fisher Guide plant when he returned home from 4 years in the Pacific Theatre, WWll and spent 38 years with and retired from the company.
